to oink or not (title by Nicholas O Weber)

So with this swine flu scare going on...Sasha and Nate have been sick all weekend. Nick got a little nervous on Sunday evening and called the on-call doctor. They told us to NOT let Sasha go to school and take them in first thing Monday for a rapid flu test. So we did.
This is what we got. MASKS.
We were alienated because we have runny noses. GEESH. Well I guess they are simply trying to protect the rest of NB from the swine flu or curly tails as Jill described it. So here we are at the doctors office wearing our masks and in case your wondering, no, no one stared Oh yeah, we tested negative for the flu. Positive for sinus infections!
Nate likes to play when he wakes up in the morning. He eventually comes in to my room, rubs my arm and says "sweetie" or actually "sweesie" to wake me up. This morning he came in, "sweesie", I rolled over, opened my eyes, YIKES!!! It was quite the scene. Funny. Not funny. Anyway, cute overall so I had to make him pose so I could take his cute little picture. In reality, i don't want to be awakened by someone asking me to evacuate my house or anything, that is a little nerve-wracking.
Our first time in the shopping cart car. He loved it. I thought he had already driven it with his dad. He acted like it was what was supposed to happen when we got to the grocery store. So I called Nick and was peeved because that thing is really hard to drive. Nope, Nate just pulled one over on me. He had never been in the car cart. He just decided he wanted to do it and he did. Now it is the norm. That thing is very hard to drive, I don't like it. So if you are at the grocery store and here someone run into the shelves, it is probably us....trying to steer that darn cart!

Wall Art

So when we color, I pick up all of the colors once we are finished. Well the tip on the red color broke. Nate found it the next morning and brought it straight over to mom. The walk was from the office to mom's bedroom, in between he found the wall in the hall looks kinda plain since it is white. Lala's bedroom door also plain. He decided to decorate for me. When he finished he brought over the color, momma look color. Momma trash. Momma color me. Then he pulled my hand right on down the hall to see his beautiful masterpiece.
Thank you Jesus for washable crayons :) Its clean now, but had to save the memory before I cleaned it off !

Sand play me!

Nick gets home from work and the first thing Nate does is grab his hand and say, "sand, play, me, come dadda." So here they are enjoying the sand table :)

Sasha finished her year with YLNB

Sasha spent the year participating in Youth Leadership New Braunfels. It is a program for sophomores and juniors. Participants apply and about 30 are chosen to participate all year. The program is one day per month, the students are taken out of school to learn about the community and the people who work and run our community. They have had city and county government, business and economy, healthcare and social care, leadership skills, etiquette, and so much more. I think the favorites were the county jail - scary, and NB Smokehouse - the meat processing, stinky!! It was a year long program. Sasha was very fortunate to participate in this program. We are so proud of her :)

Sasha getting her plaque :) Congratulations Sasha!! Papa, Sasha, Grammy, and Abue Nick, Sasha, Sonya

My children are growing up too fast

So today we let Sasha drive herself to Confirmation class. This is the first time we let her drive. :( and :). It is an whirlwind of emotions. You want them to drive so you don't have to take them everywhere and back. You don't want them to drive because then you have to worry about them getting everywhere and back. What's a mom to do? She did call once she arrived and boy were we glad she made it to church safely. This driving thing, ugh. Nate found a crayon. I make it a point to put the crayons up HIGH. I will restate that, VERY, VERY HIGH and in a BOX. I can't imagine how one did not make it in the box the last time we colored, but it didn't. He brought me the cu-wer. Of course he left his mark first. On Sasha's bedroom door, it's white. On the hallway wall, it's white. Did he color on anything that would not show his art work? Of course not. I forgot to tell my mom, I better call her. She will definately get a kick out of this since I did the same thing on her favorite mural:) No not me.... When Sasha colored her walls, they had floral wall paper and you couldn't tell. Now that was nice :) I love my children. They are growing up too fast. And learning new things that momma is not quite ready for them to know. I think I can relate to how God felt once he discovered Adam and Eve had eaten from the forbidden tree. They now had knowledge He didn't want them to have, and He couldn't change it. Once you take a step, you can't go back no matter how hard you try. I will say a special prayer today for parents. WE NEED IT. :)
Heavenly Creator of the universe, we thank You for the children that You have entrusted to us. We want to cooperate with You fully in helping themgrow into free and responsible persons and mature in the faith received at Baptism.Grant us the grace to be able to guide them in the practice of virtue andthe way of your commandments---by the good example of our lives, and by theloving observance of your law and that of your Church. Most of all, however, guide them with your Spirit so that they may know thevocation You will for them and be open to geniune self-giving and true Christian love. Amen.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

I have no idea what Nate is doing here, it was a cute picture and I really don't know who took it. It is in my bedroom, he is in his pj's, but what was going on I couldn't tell you.
"Can we get this show on the road?"
Konner's first outing :)
The Easter egg hunt is on...ready, set, go! I was hunting eggs for Sasha since she had to work:(
Even Konner got into the spirit of hunting, it was too much work, he fell asleep.
Nate really figured out the hunting thing. He was everywhere. After it was over, he was still double checking to make sure, just in case they missed one.
I can't quite reach....
my egg, no my egg...well they can't speak that well, but I think that was the jest of the "conversation". AND to their surprise, they found 2 eggs at this spot!! This is hard work. My little engineer.
The woo-woo was going by, and apparently it was LOUD.
Uncle Zip, Aunt Sharon, and the kids :) Nate really liked Uncle Zip, on the way to G&P's he named everyone that was going to be at the "party" as he called it and every other name was Uncle Zip. NATE LOVES UNCLE ZIP!!! He is still talking about him today :)
G&P and the kids minus the teenager Sasha had to work.
Hot Stuff!
Jr broke a cascarone on Nate's head. At first Nate did not know what to think. Then he decided to break one on his own head...he thought it was funny.
He liked the confetti.
